How we operate
Each member estate nominates a representative to the group, generally its chief or a senior executive. These individuals, collectively form the core of EBG and undertake it's business supported by a small paid secretariat.
EBG generally adopts a modest profile, and, to achieve its aims:
- Maintains membership of and close links with CLA, BPF, HHA, SEBG and others. Importantly, EBG does not seek to duplicate the activities of these organisations who will take the lead on the majority of the day to day issues - but guided by EBG to ensure that its particular interests are recognised and catered for.
- Meets quarterly as a Group, and develops links to individuals distinguished in EBG's area of interest, by inviting them to address its meetings.
- The Group maintains expert standing committees on urban, rural, planning and heritage matters.
- Retains contacts with senior officials and with Parliamentarians from all parties both in the United Kingdom and in Europe, both centrally, through its partner organisations, and as individual estates.
- Retains its own Parliamentary advisers in both Houses, is supported by a paid secretariat and a professional public relations adviser.
- EBG is a member of the European Landowners' Organisation and through them, monitors developments of interested members in Europe.
